The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, in connection with the worsening of the development of the coronavirus pandemic, decided to switch to the distance form of teaching from Tuesday, October 13. The UVMP Rector’s Order is valid until further notice, at least until November 2, 2020.
The regulation applies to all study programs and forms of study. The only exceptions are 6th year students in general veterinary medicine, who complete practical training on a school farm in small groups with strict safety precautions. Subsequently, they are waiting for individual preparation for the final exams. Further teaching in the online space will be carried out according to the schedule.
Students with permanent residence in Slovakia, who are accommodated in student dormitories, are obliged to temporarily leave the student dormitories during the distance form of study. They must do so by 15 October. International students stay in dormitories in stricter hygienic conditions. During the eviction period, students will have their accommodation fee reduced to 50 percent. If students are interested in accommodation before the state exams, they will have to prove themselves with negative Covid tests not older than 48 hours. In the university school canteen, food will be served only in packages.
The university has prepared an electronic form for students and staff to report quarantine. It will provide data on who was quarantined until the interruption of full-time teaching, but will also collect data after the transition to distance learning. It should give the school a real overview of the current health situation of students and staff.
To date, the university has 13 positively tested students. There is no positive test among employees yet.
